The Soul Jazz Orchestra have been developing the craft of upbeat feel-good music for years. One cannot go to a SJO show and not end up grooving and dancing to the infectious beats and uplifting sounds created by this tight outfit of stellar local musicians. At one point in time, the band played every Thursday night at Babylon. Building on that success they began heavily touring, and North American and European audiences cannot get enough of their live shows. They have received a multitude of acclaim in many genres, cause they are that good in all of them. The only label they need is celebration cause that is the undeniable result of the band working it on stage for all people to enjoy. Come check out a truly excellent live show that is beyond any standard labels. Expect another sold out SJO show on Saturday, March 28th, come early to make sure you don’t miss the joy provided by this Ottawa dance band.

This Thursday, March 26th Babylon is bringing back that ragga vibe with multi Juno award winner Exco Levi. Levi is such a force in reggae in this country he has won the Juno in ‘12, ‘13, ‘14, and yet again in 2015. Internationally he has also received attention from his work with Richie Stephens, and Silly Walks. Come give big ups to a reggae history maker and get ready to dance until your feet are swollen. Let’s get back to some Babylon roots, this Thursday it will be all about rice and peace.

This Sunday March 22nd, Babylon will have the pleasure of hosting DJ Trevor Walker on the decks at Mod Club Ottawa.  To say Trevor has been a pioneer in Ottawa underground culture is an understatement.  From his b boy days in the Canadian Floor Masters, through to hosting and producing numerous shows on CKCU college radio, through to a very longstanding residency at the downtown institution The Mercury Lounge, Trevor has truly done it all.  He was one, and some would say the true catalyst of the funk / house / electro jazz scene in Ottawa, and this Sunday he will bring that flavour alongside Mod Club founders DJ’s Gaz and Emmett.  Always stellar to have Trevor Walker in the house, come be part of it this Sunday.  No Cover, Steamwhistle deals in full effect.

March is here and spring is around the corner. Let’s dance away the winter blues at Babylon on March, Friday 20th. THE SILK TEAM is coming to play all the best 1990’s – early 2000’s jams. R Kelly, Missy, Aaliyah, Destiny’s Child and so many more.
