Do Work Wednesdays‘ is a new Industry Appreciation Night. The service industry in Ottawa is thriving these days. We feel this is due to the the numerous skilled people in the businesses that are pushing the local arts agenda forward. Through Do Work Wednesdays, we want to showcase some of the gifted and skilled individuals who are setting the pace in their respective niches. Wednesday, November 28th is the first in the Do Work Wednesdays series that will highlight different people in the areas of beer and spirits, food service, as well as  music providers, DJs and promotions companies. For the launch party we’ll have Owen Smith (Jack Daniels rep) as guest bartender,  DJ Danya D on the 1’s and 2’s, and  Melt Gourmet Grilled Cheese as guest food sponsor. And last, but certainly not least, this will be a Movember fundraiser. Donations are accepted, but not mandatory!

This month’s edition of Grind features Daddy Mayser. Born and raised in N.D.G. an area rich in culture in the heart of Montreal Canada, Maysr bought his first set of Technics 1200s and a mixer in 1994. At the time, his passion for both hip hop and dancehall culture was in full bloom so his musical selection was only natural. Fast forward to the present, Maysr has made his mark in Montreal as a top notch selector specializing in all forms of jamaican music but can still throw down a dirty hip hop set if need be and can easily adapt to a crowd in order to keep the dance floor packed. As far as reggae is concerned Maysr is known as a juggling selector but he has a heavy arsenal of dubplates that would make some clash selectors jaws drop. See you Saturday, November 24th!
